Koe no Katachi

Koe No Katachi Interview : https://blog.sakugabooru.com/2016/12/

Koe No Katachi originally was a manga illustrated by Yoshitoki Oima. It then becomes a Japanese anime school drama film produced by Koto Animation, directed by Naoko Yamada and written by Reiko Yoshida.

The story revolves around a delinquent boy named Ishida Shouya who bullied Nishimiya Shouko, a deaf girl who transferred to his class. He treated her badly even though Nishimiya'd been trying hard to be friends with him. He would throw her hearing aid away, yelling into her ears, calling her mean words and such. Till one day, when he forcefully pulled the hearing aid from the girl's ears without her knowing, her ears bleed. Soon the girl's mother suspected that there was a bully case due to 8 hearing aids of the girl lost within few months. By then, the boy was reported by his classmates when the teacher asked for reasons in the class. After that, the boy was alienated by his comrades too, being bullied in the same way he did to the girl before. He then reflected on his actions and started looking down on himself for all the bully in the past.

When Ishida became a highschool student, he met Nishimiya Shouko again by coincidence. But this time, Ishida was the one asking Nishimiya to be his friend, hoping to be pay back what he did to her by treating her well and helping her to live properly in this world. The relationship between those two, probably will turn into love.

In my opinion, this story would be very boring if the author did not design the characters in such way. If the story is normal, like normal schoolmate being bullied by a boy, then it would be the same with other typical Shoujo stories. However, this did not happen in Koe No Katachi. Strong emotions can be felt when the audience start emphasizing Ishida. I believe that Koe No Katachi can bring some good lessons to people too, such as do not bully our classmates as we are ought to be nice to each other, not to hurt them, do remember that they are people too, and people has feelings. Besides, it is always not too late to start something, like Ishida is trying to be friend with Nishimiya and treat her nice in order to repay back for all the cruel things he did in the past. Nishimiya too was nice enough to talk to Ishida even after bullied in the elementary year. Try imagining how the boy would feel if Nishimiya is not as forgiving as she is, and refuse to become friends with Ishida. That would be horrible.

Many people have been looking forward to watch this movie, including myself. Therefore, I believe that this story will turn out to be a great romance, drama, and slice of life movie.

Ozabu

Ozabu is an artist who draws soft and smooth drawings that are related to Japanese extracts with mechanical pencil. Ozabu's drawings are usually very light and soft. Just like Dimitra Milan, Ozabu's passion for arts was big influence by her parents. However, as a self-taught artist, Ozabu did not use any reference books nor does any research on what the other artists use to draw and such. Instead, Ozabu would see a piece in person and analyze it, teaching herself the technique and trying out different tools until she understands how the piece was created.      I have realized that Ozabu often draws gory drawings, some of them even reminded me of "death" even though her drawings are very beautiful. According to the interview, Ozabu's inspirations often come from her feelings and experiences, and she experienced death of someone important in her life. Therefore, her drawings included some funeral elements as they are gre...
