Detention 

     Detention is a Taiwanese survival horror game that just got released recently. To me, the plot of this game is very complicated for me to understand even though I have repeated watching the game plays. The art of this game managed to bring out the spookiness of a horror game, despite not having any jump scares in it. It appears that this game has also included some Taiwanese culture and mythology. Not only that, there is also plot twist in this game such as the main heroine that the player has been playing ended up to be a girl that is the cause for bad things to happen. And she, was not as nice as we all thought.

The plot of the game :

" Wei Chung Ting (魏仲廷, "Wei" for short) falls asleep in class as Instructor Bai (白教官) arrives asking the teacher Miss Yin Tsui Han (殷翠涵) about a certain book list. He later awakens to find the campus deserted due to an incoming typhoon. Passing a shortcut through the auditorium, he meets a senior named Fang Ray Shin (方芮欣, "Ray" for short), who fell asleep in the middle of the auditorium. The exit bridge is broken, and they are forced to wait out the storm in Wei's classroom. Wei decides to leave Ray in the room while he looked for a phone.

Ray later wakes up once more in a nightmarish and darker version of the school, waking up in the auditorium with Wei dead and hanging from the stage ceiling. Through her wandering, solving puzzles, and finding clues, the real story behind Ray is revealed:

Ray was a bright student of Greenwood High School and was the only child of a loving couple. However, Ray's father eventually became alcoholic and abusive, and cheated on his wife. Being a public servant, he was later arrested for corruption. All this affected Ray's performance in school, and she was referred to the school counselor, Mr. Chang Ming Hui (張明暉).

Ray and Mr. Chang eventually fell in love, forming a secret relationship. Unbeknownst to Ray, Chang also helps Yin smuggle banned books for an illegal book club led by Yin. Yin finds out about the relationship and confronts him, reminding him this could endanger their club. Ray overhears this conversation and spirals back into sadness when Chang refuses to be close to her once more. Angered, she manages to get the banned books list from Wei, who is part of the club. She gives this list to Instructor Bai, a military officer posted to the school by the government, and claimed she found it on Miss Yin's desk, hoping to get the teacher fired. But things turn out a lot worse as Chang is arrested and executed, Yin flees the country and Wei is imprisoned. Ray receives an award for reporting the club, but then commits suicide out of guilt. Yin is blacklisted from returning and dies of cancer years later. As the martial law is lifted, Wei is released and revisits the now abandoned school, where the spirit of Ray follows him around. Images of a stranded Ray from earlier is seen, implying she is trapped in an endless cycle of memory.

There are two endings showing different scenes depending on what Ray answers to the questions given by a silhouette of Ray. If Ray's answers do not match her personality as depicted in the game, her silhouette will say that they are not the same, and is shown a river of blood with floating bodies as Wei, Chang, and Yin tell her that the cycle will never end.

If Ray's answers show an understanding of her motivations of why she did what she did, she will find a paper airplane containing a message of love and farewell from Mr. Chang, and is led to Mr. Chang's office. Just before he is arrested, he tells Ray that people should be born to live freely without fear of oppression. She appears sitting in front of Wei in the abandoned school."
