Silver Spoon ( Gin no Saji ) - Part 2

What other things to talk about Silver spoon ? Apart from the lessons I wrote in the previous post , there are tons of other things that I have learned from this animation or manga called Silver Spoon and these are capable to keep most of the people motivated in whatever they are doing in their life . In the part 1 , I have mentioned that it's okay to run away , be positive , do not overwork , and learn to say " no ". In this post , there are few things for me write about such as do not be afraid to speak out your thoughts and feelings , pursue your dream , dream big , and we do not learn everything in school .

There are times where we are to be "silent" by people when we are about to express our feelings and that has caused us to be afraid to talk to people about what we are thinking . In Silver Spoon , similar things happened to the protagonist , Hachiken Yuugo . He was given huge loads of pressure by his family to study in order to get good grades or get into top university , he even sees his elder brother as a goal to 'surpass' in studies . He started losing sight of his dreams and goals , not to mention that he cannot see his parents as the people who he can talk to when he is facing problems . Eventually his current friend named Mikage Aki noticed the problem lies within him , and advised him to try talking everything out to his parents instead of just running away . Hachiken then started expressing his feelings and thoughts to his parents when he went back to his house , Hachiken's mother mentioned that it was the first time that she sees Hachiken talking back to his father . Even though it doesn't seem that his father agrees to what Hachiken said to him , I believe that Hachiken is growing as a person to stand stronger when he expresses his feelings.

Pursuing our dreams may be one of the hardest thing to do in life especially when the situation is not right for us . However , Hachiken Yuugo has showed us that it's better to tell our parents about our dreams than to just follow the path they have given us without knowing our ambitions . Mikage Aki , a girl from farmers' family was supposed to take over her family farm when she grows up , while her family farm is to take care of dairy animals such as cows , her dream is to work with horses. Despite having a dream , she did not have the courage to tell her parents about it and she just kept quiet about it . Hachiken told Mikage to pursue his dreams as he does not even have a dream to work towards and the one who advised Hachiken to express his feelings was Mikage . Mikage then consulted her family with Hachiken's accompany , it was a shock for her family and most of them could not accept it either . But eventually , they slowly taking Mikage's dream into consideration and started discussing about her future . Mikage then started working hard towards her dreams to work with horses in the future .

Another thing that we can learn from Silver Spoon is to dream big . Mikage Aki's childhood friend , Komaba Ichiro is a baseball player , he dreams to become a national baseball player and to have a big farm in the future so that his mother doesn't need to work so hard . Komaba's family farm is about to bankrupt due to the debt they have , they have to work hard to earn livings without his father's help . Although he is going through hardships and poverty , he does not complain and he stays working hard to achieve both goals . When Komaba first told Hachiken about his goals , Hachiken was jealous and asked " Wanting to achieve both dreams , just how greedy are you ? " .  Komaba did not back down , instead he answered " What is wrong with having lots of dreams " .  This shows that Komaba is a tough guy who dreams big , and possesses positive attitude to face different kinds of problems in his life .

We cannot learn everything in school . We do not learn everything in school . In another words , we always learn no matter where we go . When Hachiken went to Mikage's family farm to do part time job during their 2-week holiday , Mikage's grandpa asked Hachiken to butch the dead deer so that they will made it into dinner . Hachiken kept refusing and giving excuses like " I have never done it before " . Mikage's grandpa then asked Hachiken , " Are you going to learn everything about life at school ? " . This is where I realised that we are learning at every moment , and we are supposed to be learn from anyone at anywhere when we have the chance . It might not be a very nice experience for Hachiken to butch a dead deer for the first time , but he did learn the way to butch the deer .

Ozabu

Ozabu is an artist who draws soft and smooth drawings that are related to Japanese extracts with mechanical pencil. Ozabu's drawings are usually very light and soft. Just like Dimitra Milan, Ozabu's passion for arts was big influence by her parents. However, as a self-taught artist, Ozabu did not use any reference books nor does any research on what the other artists use to draw and such. Instead, Ozabu would see a piece in person and analyze it, teaching herself the technique and trying out different tools until she understands how the piece was created.      I have realized that Ozabu often draws gory drawings, some of them even reminded me of "death" even though her drawings are very beautiful. According to the interview, Ozabu's inspirations often come from her feelings and experiences, and she experienced death of someone important in her life. Therefore, her drawings included some funeral elements as they are gre...
Dory Kanter      " The greatest gift of sketching is how relaxing it is ---- relaxing and exhilarating at the same time . My internal art critic goes on vacation , and I am playful and don't worry about results .  "      Dory Kanter is an artist who does quick sketches and visual story-telling in her everyday life . It appears that she leads painting and journaling workshops and is a passionate advocate of art in the schools . With great funding , Kanter has developed innovative art and literacy curricula for high school students , and she has lectured at Yale University about the importance of creativity .      According to what Dory Kanter has mentioned , her habit at home , is to sketch as a way to reflect about each day . When traveling , she sketches all the time as well , basically whenever she sits still long enough to get out a pencil or pen . When sketching , she would always ask herself, " Why am I drawn to this particula...
Jack Storms  --- Optical Crystal Sculptures       Jack Storms is a Fine Art Glass Artist who designs glass sculptures (cold glass sculptures). According to Jack Storms, he created these glass sculptures without using any heat at all, all he does is grinding and it took a lot more time. It usually take him about 8-18 weeks from start to the end for each artwork. Jack Storms made glass sculptures using water, and some concepts of physics such as refractive index. He also added that his artworks cast color shadow, and it reflects the colors.      In my opinion , Jack Storms is an artist who is confident in his path of choice, he has his own perspective and I found that as an attractive point of him as an fine artist. He confessed that a lot of people asked him what his artworks mean to him , he felt that it's not the right question . His question is what his artworks mean to the people who are going to receive these ar...
